Fresh off their graduation from the University of Pittsburgh this May, Michon Gallaway ’21 is turning their focus to the classroom once again — this time as a teacher. The East Liberty native is no stranger to education, with experience tutoring at Pitt and periodically teaching at both the Fund for Advancement of Minorities through Education (FAME) and The Neighborhood Academy (TNA).

A standout both in the classroom and on the basketball court, TNA senior Shamar is now set to attend La Roche University on a full scholarship in the fall. Shamar, a proud resident of Pittsburgh’s Hill District, helped lead TNA’s basketball team to both the 2025 WPIAL Class 1A Boys' Championship and the 2025 PIAA Class 1A State Championship. His game-saving three-pointer in the state finals became an instant legend.

Beatrice "Bea" Jones has lived a life dedicated to education, community service, and faith. As an elementary teacher for Pittsburgh Public Schools for over 32 years, she has nurtured countless young minds. Beyond the classroom, her commitment to serving youth continued through her involvement at Shadyside Presbyterian Church.
