Greetings,

I hope all is well for you and your family and that you are enjoying your summer.

First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your patience throughout our planning process to safely reopen our school this fall. I also would like to thank the parents who participated in our Reopening Survey and Focus Group. Your voices were heard, and your recommendations played a significant role in our plans for starting school on Monday, August 24, 2020.

Our plans contain learning options that will allow parents to have a choice in how they would prefer their child’s learning experience to take place throughout the 2020/2021 school year. Our plans have been created by drawing together the expertise of our Academic Committee, the Education Committee of our Board of Directors, our Pandemic Team, and our Pandemic Coordinator. These groups have conducted extensive research and have retrieved the best available information from medical and workplace safety experts, mental health professionals, government officials, faculty, staff, students, and parent voices.

Our Reopening Plans and Infectious Disease Control Policy are grounded in our commitment to our students and in our compliance with the guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Our reopening plans include the recommended combination of social distancing, health monitoring, face coverings, and enhanced cleaning within our campus. Listed below is our learning model for the 2020/2021 school year.

TNA Reopening: 2020/2021 Learning Models

Goals of the model:

We understand that TNA families have varying needs and desires for their students returning to school this fall. Our goals are to do our best to meet these needs and desires of our families and to ensure the academic, physical, and mental well-being of our students. With these goals in mind, we are introducing a Blended Learning Model.

Under the 2020/2021 Blended Learning Model, families will have the opportunity to choose whether their students will learn 100% virtually (100% Virtual Cohort), or whether they will blend virtual and in-person learning (Blended Learning Cohort). All students, no matter which cohort, will have their core classes three days per week and will be addressing the same learning objectives.

Learning in cohorts: At the beginning of the academic term, families will have the opportunity to choose a learning cohort for their student. Students will remain in these cohorts for the remainder of the academic term, which lasts between 8-9 weeks. Families will have the option for students to move between cohorts, if they choose, at the beginning of each academic term.

❖ 100% Virtual Cohort: Classes and office hours will be online Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

❖ Blended Learning Cohort: Classes will be held in person on Tuesday and Thursday. Students will participate in virtual classes on Friday.

Guidelines for in-person instruction: TNA will follow CDC guidelines to promote social distancing within classrooms, with six feet between student desks. In accordance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines, all students and faculty will be required to take daily temperature checks, to wear masks/face coverings on school premises, and to comply with school social distancing guidelines.

Please know that throughout the year this plan may alter due to shifts in government guidelines or COVID-19 community spread.

In order to efficiently enroll our students in this process, I ask that you open the survey link listed below so that you can select which option you would like to place your child.

TNA Reopening Choice
